They were expecting it from Anastasiadis, but it came from Vryzas. The resignation of PAOK executive rocked the club and started a conversation about a person that has been worn down the last seven years, but is also appreciated in the football world. Sdna tries to discover his responsibilities and why he decided to resign for a second time.Rumor: Zisis Vryzas hates Aggelos AnastasiadisFact: Zisis Vryzas, even before Savvidis' arrival, believed that Aggelos Anastasiadis could help PAOK stay in a steady course, even with all the financial adversities. A meeting between them in May 2012 made him change his mind, because he found out that Aggelos still had the flaws he had shown at PAOK in the past. He does not dislike him, he does not believe in him that much, we tried to work with him.Rumor: Zisis Vryzas was disappointed by Savvidis behavior

Fact: Zisis Vryzas says that Savvidis is a nice person, that he gives everything for his partners if they persuade him. During these three years, he tried to persuade him about a new model of collaboration, since there was trust between them.Rumor: Zisis Vryzas played a "game" with Sahpatzidis-Floridis so that Zagorakis would goFact: The relationship between Vryzas and Zagorakis was ruined a year before and there were people in the environment of both that made things worse. With the initiative of Zagorakis and Vryzas (who turned down an offer by Panathinaikos) and although the misunderstanding was still there, Vryzas returned to PAOK, regardless the development of the discussions with the potential owners. He was persuaded by Sahpatsidis that the interest was existing, based on the fact that the imprisoned businessman had shown credibility, by paying for part of the transfers. The cruel reality is that the summer developments advanced the departure of Zagorakis, who also paid for the decay after five years as a president of a club without resource. The presence of Vryzas made the succession easier.Rumor: Vryzas had agreed with Santos and Ivan brought Aggelos

Fact: Vryzas was in advanced talks with Fernando Santos and Savvidis was informed about it. The Portuguese manager knew that a final approval by the owner was necessary. The owner decided between Santos, Georgiadis and Aggelos, who was also recommended at the gathering of the fans.Rumor: Zissis Vryzas is responsible for the failure of last three years

Fact: Zissis Vryzas is responsible for the fact that not even one of his propositions for the position of PAOK manager were heard. He wanted Domingos Paciencia, but instead of him PAOK signed Stephens. He wanted Fernando Santos, but in place of Santos Aggelos Anastasiadis returned to the team. As a true professional, Vryzas tried to cooperate with both of them, but not will all his heart. When it came down to transfers, he collaborated with German Chitsyakov back in 2012-1014 and then with Anastasiadis.Rumor: Vryzas axed Laszlo Boloni to bring Giorgos DonisFact: Vryzas fired Laszlo Boloni because, in his opinion, the Romanian manager wasn’t good enough for PAOK. But, when Boloni got fired, Vryzas hadn’t decide who his replacement would be. Vryzas tried to fire him “in style” by lowering Boloni’s payment and cutting the team’s budget, but he realized that even then the Romanian wouldn’t resign. So, he had to dismiss him. Until that point he had to live with everything that Boloni did in daily basis, most of which Vryzas didn’t like.Rumor: Vryzas axed GarciaFact: First of all, it has to be reminded that Vryzas convinced Pablo Garcia not to “call it a day” back in 2008, when the Uruguayan player was ready to announce his retirement. And, as a small sign of trust in Garcia’s abilities, PAOK offered him a two-year contract (Garcia wanted to sign a one-year deal). The following season (2009-2010) Vryzas convinced Santos that Garcia was still a useful player for PAOK. A year later he fired Beretta, after a conversation with Pablo Garcia. And, finally, he tried his best to “make peace” between Garcia and Donis and then to calm down PAOK owner Ivan Savvidis, who was very upset. The summer of 2014, after Garcia expressing his will to leave PAOK’s coaching staff, he made an even better offer, in an attempt to persuade the Uruguayan change his mind.Rumor: PAOK fans “hate” VryzasFact: Part of PAOK fans do “hate” Vryzas, but only because they don’t know who the “true” Vryzas is. Vryzas has never defended himself in public, he never responded to the rumors that came to light during the hard period of Zagorakis presidency and those who tried to support Vryzas didn’t do a very good job. Vryzas was only interested in his work and not his public picture, but that comes with a cost. Of course he made mistakes- mainly transfer mistakes (Ninis, Spyropoulos, Filomeno, for example). Vryzas misunderstood the good relationship with player agents, who took advantage of him and he is responsible for not showing his determination. Big part of PAOK fans consider him way too “light” for the position of PAOK president and quite tame for a person working in Ivan Savvidis’ businesses.

The reality, though, is very different. Rumor: Vryzas had a "circle"Fact: Zisis Vryzas had along his side people who were against him in public or in private and defamed him. Many examples from Teo Zagorakis' companions, who he either maintained or brought back as the president of PAOK. He disappointed people who supported him because he thought that they exposed him. Finally, he trusts 3-4 people that don't have any role at PAOK. Rumor: Zisis Vryzas didn't want to lose his moneyFact: Vryzas is one of the rich Greek footballers, who signed high fees contracts mainly in Italy and he invested his money. As the president of PAOK he faced problems of account commitments and assets, but his way of living is comfortable and secure, regardless of his salary as the club president. Rumor: Zisis Vryzas and Theodoros Zagorakis have a bad relationshipFact: Their relationship isn't as good as it was in 2010, but they don't have the hostile mood, provoked by some people during the period 2010-2012. Their relationship is typical, they talk when they meet and they fend off those who spoke instead of them and at every situation (ex. EU elections) Vryzas had a good word to say about his friend. They are both egoists and different characters but they regret about many things they told each other during the difficult period of their relationship.
