The annual salary of them stands at 3.5 million euros the 1.8 million of which is going to the wages of only 13 people, those who are being repeatedly called as the "HFF's tough administrative core" by many people, even from members of the Greek Parliament.
That certainly explains why the current administration of the Hellenic Football Federation is fighting hard to "protect" the "self-administration" of Greek football, which the Deputy Minister of Sports Stavros Kontonis is calling "against the law and without any control".
Meanwhile, the HFF is refusing to help financially the amateur football clubs and the Football Unions. The last subsidy sent to them was at the end of 2015, 4.000 euros each and not to all of them. 35 Football Unions received the money, while 17 others not, because they stand by the "opposite party".
"Golden" employees
The monthly salary of the Hellenic Football Federation's Executive Secretary Pafsanias Papanikolaou was 8.476 euros and he is considered to be a very important official, since he is handling the cases of international football authorities and contacts with the majority of Football Unions.
Still, he is not the highest-paid employee! There is someone in the financial department, who is earning 9.008 euros every month. Another important officials of the HFF are earning 7.925 euros - 7.248 euros and a member of the legal department, who was heavily involved in the case of the official letters sent to FIFA against Kostakis Koutsokoumnis, another 5.444 euros.
Some employees who have a supportive role in the disciplinary committees are earning between 4.500 and 4.700 euros every month and generally there are more than 20 employees in the Hellenic Football Federation with a monthly salary which is exceeding the 4.000 euros.
There is also the salary of a high-level official who is being paid by UEFA and according to recent information, he is earning about 10.700 euros every month. Of course there are also many bonuses, for example a regular salary of 8.500 euros in 2014 exceeded the 12.800 euros in only one month via the bonuses!
Also, the expenses of all the HFF's committees are about 500.000 euros every year and many officials are participating in 2-3 of them. Certainly, that kind of money would had been an extremely important help for the amateur football clubs and the Football Unions of Greece.
"Smell" of corruption
There is another suspicious part of the Hellenic Football Federation's work plan: there are at least two people related with famous sports journalists in the current staff. They are repeatedly supporting the interests of HFF via their Media and many times blasting the Deputy Minister of Sports Stavros Kontonis.
One of those two people, is obliged to visit the Hellenic Football Federation's headquarters one or two times every year, but he is still enjoying a monthly salary of 1.700 euros. There is also the wife of a high-level official in the current staff and she is earning another 4.000 euros.
The time of extremely high salaries in the HFF started after Euro 2004, during Vasilis Gagatsis' presidential era. Many sponsors, income from FIFA-UEFA and the success of Greece National Team brought 8-10 million euros of profit in the Hellenic Football Federation every season.
Still in Greece of 2016, after so many years of financial crisis, the wages of the HFF's employees seem extremely provocative, especially if you think that even the President of Greek Democracy is earning 5.500 euros per month...
