There are many ways to speak about the fire at the house of Giorgos Bikas and exclude the obvious. Of course, anything is possible. But statistically, when something looks like an elephant, walks like an elephant, acts like an elephant and has the characteristics of an elephant, nine times out of ten is actually en elephant. An elephant in the room, for whom nobody wants to openly speak. It is justified. The smoke from Giorgos Bikas' burnt house is still in the air. And it will be for much longer, terrifying all those who were thinking to raise their heads and take action against the "system", which turned Greek football to a swamp full of toxic dirt and filth.
The matter from now on is one and only: How should we go on? How can we turn the ashes into a fine material from something new, healthy and fresh?
I have no response, or any particular optimism. We are speaking about ruthless people, ready to do anything in order to avoid losing their spoons full of honey, or take with them at their downfall as many people as possible, even the sport itself.
If there is a solution, then this is the truth. The truth about the attack to Bikas' house, about Konstantineas' bakery, about the abuse of certain journalists, the truth, the whole truth and only the truth. Only if we find out what really happened and only if the guilty people be punished, we will be able to move forward.
But this will probably never happen. And this way, even if Greek football be improved, one way or another, if what we are living in recent years do not become completely clear and straight, if even the last dark spot of this sad story do not be lightened, then an important part of the football fans crowd will remain poisoned and suspicious for a long time more.
In any case, we have to try. But first, we have to count ourselves. How many of us really want to learn the truth, no matter how unpleasant this will be and even if some people prefer creating comfortable lies? How many will continue searching and how many are afraid? How many are trying to find the facts and how many prefer to color the attack to Bikas' house in a way to protect certain interests?
Now that things have become more difficult, how many will find the courage to fight against the criminal organization and how many will (justifiably) think of their own house?
Nobody is actually in the mood to be a hero. But for the peaceful civilians, there is another problem: the sparks from burnt house have the tendency to be out of control. So, in the current world of Greek football, nobody has the luxury to believe that he is really safe.
The choice to remain out of the fight seems to be the safe one. But in the end, the safer choice will possibly be the opposite one: Fight till the end in order for fear and terrorism to leave Greek football once and for all!
