"The corrupted system of Greek football is not willing to surrender till the last time", said Stavros Kontonis at Greek Parliament today, when he filled the necessary legal article about the legalization of the Hellenic Football Federation's Normalization Committee. A clearly typical issue, which became so big for certain people, who wanted to create impressions in order to protect specific interests.
Still, the biggest problem of the corrupted system was that Stavros Kontonis was not willing to surrender either. He was a pain in their @ss, the wall that was not going to fall, no matter how hard they tried to blast him with hooligans and also naive, healthy football fans. He was not going to break.
What he said at Greek parliament was not an overreaction, no matter what some people want: In only 20 months, he annihilated them! He actually ridiculed them!
SDNA is not fond of hagiography. We are always speaking with facts. And these facts are proving that he is successful, in spite of some people's disagreement (they just do not want to accept it) and we will remember his effort for many years!
He forced them to accept the Regular Judges and the Sports Justice finally started suspending the guilty correctly and not with false sentences.
He replaced with his own intervention and pressure, the Hellenic Football Federation's book of regulations, in order to stop them from vindicating everybody as they were previously doing.
He sent the whole administration of the Hellenic Football Federation out of football, something that had to be done but nobody was intended to do it: To obey the Law! If you will face trial for felony, you have to go home. Nowadays, all the dirty officials of 2012-16 HFF are home once and for all.
He has also achieved something more: He is changing Greek refereeing as well! Because, if we say that FIFA interfered in football because of him, we also have to thank him for the results. And the result was FIFA replacing the Central Refereeing Committee, forcing Giorgos Bikas to make all the necessary changes at Referee Boards!
Stavros Kontonis also sent home ALL the sports judges who were provocative with their decisions, and the WHOLE Board of Directors of the Hellenic Football Federation, which had turned the Federation to a place of corruption and filth, along with the kamikaze of refereeing in the CRC and the boards.
His contribution was amazing even in matters of violence! Dropping an item, firecracker or smoke bomb in the field is nowadays a rare effect because of his effort, because of the Law he created and forced them to accept. We should think of the voices raised after ONE firecracker dropped at Toumba Stadium and remember what was happening before Stavros Kontonis' era, when items in the field was a regular fact and nobody was really interested in watching them!
Stavros Kontonis fought against the powerful and ridiculed everybody! He closed Gate 13 of Leoforos, Gate 4 of Toumba, while he is laughing with the insulting banners against him at Gate 7 of Karaiskaki Stadium, which are actually proving that he has done a solid work.
No matter how hard the employees of the corrupted system and their friends are trying to blast him, neven in the past a Deputy Minister of Sports had done so many things against filth, corruption and notoriousness of football's self-administration, with the awful meaning its officials had given to it.
In order to be successful, he did not just have to be brave, determined and strong. Stavros Kontonis found the "key of the case". He took FIFA by his side! Convince it to intervene because Greek society is angry, convince it that you are right and not the scumbags of Greek football. Make it feel the same with you and explain the situation, in order to not have any excuses.
It was not painful, it just needed smart moves. That's why he is the number 1 Minister of a Government which is completely unsuccessful in any other issue. It is unbelievable but still possible: The so-called left Government will leave behind it only the effort and the success of Stavros Kontonis...
Of course, not all the problems of Greek football have been solved by Stavros Kontonis. But he cured many "sickness" of sports. He started the fire, a fire which we hope that Justice will help be increased and burn the guilty people. And we should also mention something about the famous quote "Kontonis has done nothing, nobody has gone to jail so far".
Punishing and sending people to jail is not Stavros Kontonis' work. It is a matter of Justice. Kontonis had to force them leave football and he did that! All the members and co-workers of the notorious system went home once and for all. All the people who were ridiculing any sense of legality have left Greek football. There is nobody here to do the job of criminal organization's captains and the bosses of corrupted system. And they will soon be judged by Greek Justice as well. The only sure thing is that they will leave sports. And the best possible scenario for them is to return home and not go somewhere else, much worse...
If finally Stavros Kontonis leaves his Ministry, in order to take a more important position, he will leave it totally vindicated. Because nobody ridiculed him, as some people were expecting before. On the contrary, he ridiculed them all!
