Lago is set to leave Getafe after a relegation release clause in his contract is likely to be activated.
Panathinaikos are searching for a left back to replace Danijel Pranjic who is set to leave the club at the end of the season and according to Goal newspaper Lago is in their shortlist.
It is believed that his agent is already aware of the Panathinaikos's interest.
