AEK technical director Branco Milovanovic and scout Alejandro De Bartolo are believed to have included Cafu's name high in their shortlist.
Cafu has attracted their interest after Milovanovic and De Bartolo watched him in action during their visit in Portugal.
According to Ora newspaper AEK could make a move for Cafu during the summer transfer window as they could still search for a reinforcement in the middle of the park.
