Savvidis says that he was not talking about the clubs of Athens, but the mentality of the capital regarding football. He believes that the centre is uncontrollable, while the region is purer and more independent.
What he wants is the unrestrained actions of Athens to stop and of course he does not mean that he wants the Athenian clubs to be destroyed.
Furthermore, by saying "Greeks must change", he explained that he must had said that "we Greeks must change, because I am Greek and what I said was about the way we understand and participate in football".
As far as what he said towards the fans is concerned ("I will go if you want me to"), he seems eager to hear and respect the opinion of the crowd, either it is positive or negative.
