Euroleague has decided to award Diamantidis for his contribution in the European basketball after 12 consecutive season at the top of the tournament.

The award ceremony is set to take place in the game between Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce on the 25th of February or before the last game of the last 16 of the competition at the visit of Cedevita on the 1st of April.

Euroleague wants the current coach of Fenerbahce, Zeljko Obradovic to hand Diamantidis the prize as the Serbian coach was the one who has lead Panathinaikos along with Diamantidis to the European glory in the past.

If the award ceremony takes place in the home game between Panathinaikos and Fenerbahce, OAKA is expected to be erupted as Panathinaikos fans are very thankful both to Diamantidis and Obradovic for what they have delivered for the club itself.

Diamantidis has won three times the Euroleague trophy as he has claimed two times the title of the MVP of the tournament in the past. Also Diamantidis has been named six times as the best defender in the competition while he has been included five times in the best starting five of the Euroleague. Moreover the Greek ace makes the top of the list in the assists, in the steals and in the minutes played of the competition.

Same rewards have also taken place for Thodoris Papaloukas, Juan Carlos Navarro, Ramunas Siskauskas and Sarunas Jasikevicius in the past. Now it is Diamantidis's turn to be remembered as one of the best players in the Euroleague ever.
