"When you come to play the Final Four, you come ready to play two finals. After winning the semifinals, we said that was only the first half. We need to play the second half tomorrow and we need to be ready mentally for another tough game. We are very happy that we will play the final. We are very proud for our club that we worked in the last years very humbly to be at the highest level of the EuroLeague. We are very happy to participate in the Final Four in the best league in Europe and we look forward to tomorrow.
"For us the two games that we played [against Fenerbahce] in the regular season are completely different from tomorrow. A final is a final and has particular points to be mentioned. We can check some small parts from these games, but tomorrow is a final and it will be completely different. We need to be very focused and follow the game plan because we play a great team and I think Fenerbahce is in its best shape of the season. They have a great group of players, they have the best coach in Europe and they play in front of their fans, so our job is very difficult, we are the outsider and they are the favorite.
"I think yesterday everybody when they played gave their maximum for the team. Don’t look only for the scoring; it’s not only who scores the points, it’s also team spirit and team effort defensively to stop the opponent. And we were facing two of the best guards of world basketball. And the difference to stop them was a combination also of guards and big men. So we kept a very good offensive team below their average and this is a part that all the team helped, I don’t care who scores, I care that everyone plays gives his maximum and does the thing that you do not see in the statistics. They helped the team. In the the crucial moment, we saw that a lot of them step up. The most important is to play as a team against a great team.
"I agree with Coach Obradovic; the EuroLeague is the best league. With this new format, it was very interesting for all the participants, for the players, the coaches and for the clubs in general. But also it was exciting for the fans. And no matter which position you finished, with the playoff system all eight teams have equal chances to go to the Final Four. That shows that the quality of all the clubs and that all results are open; this is very fair for the clubs, for the EuroLeague and I believe this is also more exciting for the fan because you cannot predict who will play the final. So this is very interesting and keeps the agony of all the teams till the end.
"I mentioned before that Fener now is in their best shape of the season and I said already that the two regular season games are not something special now because the final is a final. They have great players, they have a great coach, they know what to on the court all the time, defensively and offensively. And I don’t know if their style fits for us, but I believe that we want to play our game, they want to play their game and most important will be who fights for the game more, small details we judge the game and I believe who does these small things will win the game.
"When you start to coach, you don’t think about which point you will reach. Personally I worked all these years keeping a low profile, being humble and working hard to reach the highest level. When I started to coach, I started because I love basketball. I played a few years in the second league; I was not a great player, but I love basketball and I started coaching. I started very young to coach having no idea where I will go, but I was very happy that I was involved with my favorite basketball. I don’t say sport, basketball is my life. Nobody knows which point you will reach. I didn’t know. I worked hard; I am still working hard and I want to improve myself every day, next day, next week, next month next year. This is how I tried to work all these years an di am very happy that I am coach of Olympiacos, a big club, and I will be very happy tomorrow and proud to play this final", said the 50-year-old head coach of the Reds.
