1. His annual salary
Alexandre Pato is one of the highest-paid footballers in Brazil, since he is earning 219.468 euros every month thanks to his current contract with Corinthians, which expires in the last day of December 2016. That means that if any team wants to sign him and cover his whole annual contract, will have to pay for him 2.663.616 euros, without including the possible demands of his current club or the IRS.
2. His recent form and fitness condition
The international striker is still 27 years old, in the best age for an athlete, although he has been performing in the top level for many years. During the first half of 2016-16 season, as a member of Sao Paulo FC, he was in good form and scored eight goals in 14 national league appearances.
These performances forced Chelsea to sign him on loan until the end of season, but he suffered a serious injury almost immediately, stayed out of action for two months and managed to play in only two games (131 minutes, one goal) with the english club, which of course decided to not keep him in their squad.
3. Corinthians' plans about him
Alexandre Pato is a member of Corinthians since January 2013, but has never worn his shirt after February 2014 and was playing on loan to Sao Paulo FC and Chelsea since then. The president and the manager of the brazilian club had recently a meeting with his agent and announced him their intention to release him once again.
The ideal scenario for them would be selling the international striker, but they would also consider the possibility of lending him to another team until the end of 2016, in order to avoid paying his salary. Alexandre Pato was training individually until Friday, trying to return in a solid level of fitness condition, since he has remained out of playing action for the last two months.
The 27-year-old former player of AC Milan has told to his manager, Cristovao Borges, that he is ready to help Corinthians if necessary, but this seems unlikely according to recent information from Brazil, while he still needs another 20-30 days in order to be able performing without fitness problems.
4. The other interested sides
His excellent reputation has helped him attract interest from many european teams. Manager Marcelo Bielsa was monitoring his case for S.S. Lazio, before surprisingly leaving the italian club, while turkish sides seem also interested in signing him ahead of 2016-17 season.
Of course, the international striker is also expecting lucrative offers from the United States, China and Saudi Arabia, while if he finally decided to remain at his motherland the first club of his career, Sport Club Internacional, would be the favorites to sign him.
5. PAOK's chances to complete the transfer
Alexandre Pato was offered to PAOK, but it is easily understood that his case remains very difficult to be completed with success. His great reputation around the world, along with the fine age and the high salary, are the biggest problems the greek club would have to face if they finally make a transfer move for him.
Still, the owner of PAOK Ivan Savvidis proved in recent Dimitar Berbatov's case that nobody could predict what he is willing to do in order to strengthen manager Vladan Ivic's squad!
