SDNA had informed its readers first that the 25-year-old former international (with Portugal U-21), who can also perform as defensive midfielder if necessary, would be the 4th summer transfer of the Greens, after those of Ivan Ivanov, Bo Niklas Hult and Victor Ibarbo.
"I prefer playing abroad, because the level is different than in my motherland. I was informed that the level in Greece is high, while Panathinaikos is also a very important club, so it was kind of an easy decision! Since I was informed about that opportunity, I had no hesitation to agree terms, so here I am now!
My greatest dream is to win Super League with Panathinaikos! It would not be easy, but we are a strong team, with very good players, so I think we could do it. Carlos Freitas, the technical director of my previous team, FC Metz, was always telling me that Panathinaikos have the conditions to help me become a better player, so I had to accept their offer immediately if they were ever interested in signing me!
I feel better playing in the midfield line, but I am sure that I could perform equally well in defense. I am much more mature now and especially in the last two seasons I managed to improve my perception of the game, the aggressiveness in marking and the adjustment under any circumstances, either as central defender or as defensive midfielders, so these are my three biggest playing advantages", stated Nuno Reis after the announcement of his signing.
