The Greens have made an excellent offer for the signing of the 33-year-old center, a two-season contract with an annual salary of 1.25 million euros, three times the money he was earning as a member of Laboral Kutxa during 2015-16 season, when he led the spanish club to the semi finals of Euroleague with his impressive performances.
Right now, the experienced international is still considering to return to his motherland after five years, knowing well that the owner of Panathinaikos Dimitris Giannakopoulos has complete faith in his ability and that he will be the leader of the squad, since legendary captain Dimitris Diamantidis ended his playing career a few weeks ago.
However, this summer is probably his last chance to chase the "American dream" and play in the NBA for the first time in his career. Four american clubs, San Antonio Spurs, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Denver Nuggets are monitoring his case and he is able to start official talks with them since Friday, July 1.
Still, it seems that if Giannis Bourousis finally decides to continue performing in Europe, he will do it almost certainly with the shirt of the Greens, unless his former team (for a few months at 2006), Barcelona Lassa, finally hire Greek head coach Fotis Katsikaris and he manages to convince him to remain in Spain.
