Head coach of the Greens Argyris Pedoulakis wants to include the 22-year-old international in his team's squad ahead of 2016-17 season, but there is a high buy-out clause at his current contract, which expires at summer of 2017, so his case will not be easy to be completed with success.
Shawn Dawson's father, Joe, was also a professional basketball player who played in Israel for more than 20 years, and was the Israeli Basketball Premier League MVP. As a member of Hapoel Eilat BC, he faced Panathinaikos in the two games of 1997–98 FIBA EuroCup (one home victory for each side).
The talented swingman made his break in 2014-15, when leading Maccabi Rishon LeZion to Israeli Super League playoffs. He made his career high against Hapoel Holon, when he scored 28 points and took 18 rebounds. He averaged 21.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game in the Play Offs.
In the same season, he was named in Israeli Super League best line-up and he also named as the best young player of the season. On 9 June 2016, he helped Maccabi Rishon win an historic championship after scoring 21 points against Hapoel Jerusalem B.C. in the Play Offs final match.
When the season ended, Shawn Dawson announced that he will join the Washington Wizards in the 2016 NBA Summer League and went to New York for two weeks of preparation before it. In the past, he had declared himself eligible for 2015 NBA draft, but he finally rejected the offers from Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns.
