"The truth is that I don't feel very well right now, my leg still hurts a lot. I have informed head coach Fotis Katsikaris about that since December, when the problem started. I have suffered a lot because of it, it is a footpad injury and during the season it was almost ruptured. I understand the support of the head coach and the Federation, I know that the National Team has faith in me.
That's why I am here, in order to try as much as I can, if I could bring my leg to a solid condition I will help the national squad, even for a few minutes. Right now there is a lot of pain, from the many games and the fatigue issues I was forced to play at the Turkish Super League's finals with injections, so I could stand the pain.
Coach Katsikaris knows that, but I understand that he wants me to me in the team very much and that's why I came. There is no other reason, I love Greece National Team and want to help my motherland. We just don't know the current condition of my leg. I am following a double physiotherapy program and I hope that things will go well.
My last medical examinations were in Greece after the last Turkish Super League's final and were kind of 'weird'. I have a problem, but maybe it is not so serious. The thing is to bring my leg into a condition in which it will not be hurting so much. I managed to bring it in a solid level, by working with a Greek physiotherapist at Constantinoupolis.
He was 24/7 with me and helped me, but the problem returned because we had so many consecutive games and now things are difficult. Fenerbahce's officials know every move that I make, it is my team, they are paying my salary and owe me as an athlete. Fenerbahce and head coach Obradovic know my condition. I will not risk anything, if I have to risk it will not go there, they know it. I am here trying to increase my chances of being in Turin. I hope it, very much, but I can't speak with specific numbers. I am still in pain.
The gameplan of Greece is certain. The team will be faster than the past, we have many athletic players. We can play a fast and attractive basketball, which is very important. There is not much experience and the quality of the great players we had in the past, but there is still talent, will and passion. I hope that luck will also be by our side.
Working along coach Zeljko Obradovic is a great 'school'. You are always learning things in the court and also out of it. He is an excellent head coach and guy. He stood by side in every problem I ever had, the same did the General Manager of Fenerbahce and the administration. They were all there for me. It was an impressive campaign, we played in three finals and won two titles during 2015-16. This is very important for a club and I expect to have the same campaign next year.
Personally, I have another year of experience, I played in another Euroleague's final and championship's finals. I attended another Final Four. There are still many things to be done in my career, but I am happy with my accomplishments", said the 26-year-old former player of Olympiakos at SDNA.
