The Greens want to search the market for a better deal about the TV rights of their home matches, even if the two sides are under contract for another season, and despite the fact that thanks to this agreement Panathinaikos are the team with highest television revenue of all the clubs of Basket League!
The administration of Greek Cup winners has already found the legal way to proceed for the "breaking" of the agreement and according to recent information, they are already in talks with some other TV channels which are interested to work with them.
Panathinaikos believe that Nova Channel treated their team with unfriendly way during this season's broadcasts, in which the sports journalists of the channel could openly comment on referees' controversial decisions, in contrary with what's happening at the football games of Greek Super League.
The most disturbing thing for them recently was the last phase of Basket League's finals Game 2 against Olympiakos, in which the Reds left Olympic Stadium of Athens victorious thanks to the buzzer beater by Vasilis Spanoulis. Although several commentators saw the replay of his shot many times, no one spoke about the turnover violation of Olympiakos' captain, something that bothered the Greens and fastened the procedure ahead of the change.
Panathinaikos' officials are generally not happy with their cooperation with Nova Channel and their reaction is expected immediately. In other words, the Greek Cup winners will start searching the market to find a new TV contract, with OTE TV, which has already acquired the television rights of Olympiakos and AEK, as the first and main candidate right now.
We can easily understand that this will be the final blow to Nova Channel in terms of the TV rights of Basket League's championship, since everything indicates that they will "lose" the home games of the three most popular clubs in 2016-17 season, only a few days after the end of this season's finals, which were extremely interesting and massively increased basketball's TV (and not only) viewers...
