The current contract of the 24-year-old former player of Everton, Blackpool, Lierse and Vestsjælland with the greek club expires at summer of 2017 and he still holds the 20% of his rights in case of a summer transfer (10-10 with his former agent, Tasos Papadopoulos).
It was an excellent year for Apostolos Vellios, who proved his quality by scoring 13 times, called up for the first time in Greece National Team and many sides made enquiries for him in January, but he decided to remain a member of Iraklis until the end of 2015-16 season.
After many years, the international striker replaced his agent and agreed terms with famous Paul Koutsoliakos, a collaboration which started officially on June 1 and could help him increase his salary ahead of next seasons with his strong connections in Europe.
Owner of Iraklis Spyros Papathanasakis is eager to sell the former player of Everton, Blackpool, Lierse and Vestsjælland because of his club's financial problems, while he is also willing to leave Thessaloniki with a solid offer that could help his beloved side and relieve his former teammates.
Spyros Papathanasakis offered Apostolos Vellios to Nottingham Forest and also had unofficial talks with the administration of AEK, but the player's side denied the recent rumours about an agreement with the english team and made clear that the international striker and his agent will be the ones to make the final decisions towards his future.
Right now, there is much interest but no official transfer offers for the 24-year-old player, who is currently in Australia with Greece National Team, and it seems that he is willing to wait for something good until the end of June, with a transfer to Germany (where Paul Koutsoliakos has his strongest connections) as the most possible scenario.
Still, Apostolos Vellios has not ruled out the possibility of joining an important greek club, such as AEK or Panathinaikos, but until now he has not spoken with any of their officials in spite of the constant rumours in Press about transfer talks with them.
