Journalist Kyriakos Thomaidis claims that the two businessmen spoke in person the night before the derby clash between AEK and Olympiakos (1-0) on February 13 at the Olympic Stadium of Athens.
Vangelis Marinakis and Dimitris Melissanidis met in an attempt to cool the hostile situation related to greek football, with an overall objective to find out if there is any common ground in order to communicate better and end the "war" atmosphere between their clubs.
However, the results of their conversation were not the expected. The two businessmen have completely different beliefs about all the important issues in sports and understood that they will never be able to cooperate with each other, something which was also proved again during the next months.
This meeting essentially confirmed that the two clubs will follow a completely different path from now on, starting from the upcoming Hellenic Football Federation's elections in November.
