Lod completed his duties with Helsinki and he is due to head to Greece in order to join his new club Panathinaikos. The 22-year-old Finnish midfielder is excited and very confident ahead of his Panathinaikos move as he has high aims with the Greens next season.
“I'm very happy that the move to Panathinaikos has been completed. Panathinaikos are a big European club. I spoke to former Panathinaikos player Joonas Kolkka and he convinced me to join Panathinaikos. This is a big opportunity for me to make the next step in my career. The motivation to play in Europe with Panathinaikos is huge. I can't wait to join the team,” Lod tells SDNA, adding that his aims ahead of next season is to challenge Olympiakos for the Super League title.
“Our aim next season is to claim the title in Greece. I'm coming to help the team challenge Olympiakos at the top and to lift the title at the end. I know the big rivalry between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos and I'm looking forward to play in these games. Also the atmosphere in the Greek stadiums is hostile and I'm looking forward to live it. I'm sad that I leave Helsinki but this is the right time to make the next step. I'll give my best to become a regular member at Panathinaikos and help the team achieve their targets,” Lod says.
Moreover, Lod describes himself as a box-to-box midfielder who can play in various positions in the field. “I'm more a box-to-box midfielder but I can play wherever the team needs me in the midfield and in the wings as well. I've got a strong left foot and I usually try shots from distance. I like more the attacking play rather than having a defensive role,” he adds.
Lod is also excited ahead of his move to Greece because of the weather conditions in the country unlike the Finnish cold weather. “I'm very happy that I will come to live in Greece. The sun is always shining and the weather is warm throughout the year. Unlike Finland where the temperatures drop below zero for a long period,” Lod underlines.
As for his message to Panathinaikos supporters ahead of next season, Lod says: “I'm coming to give my best for Panathinaikos and help the club. I hope that Panathinaikos fans will always support us and we will try our best.”
