Spanoulis has produced some great displays with Olympiakos once again this season helping the Greek giants to reach the Euroleague Final Four in Madrid. The Greek star never doubted Olympiakos during the season and his only worries are the injuries which could tackle club's potential for a strong finish.
“I never doubted Olympiakos's abilities. My only worry is the injuries we are facing. My injury for instance had an impact on me and on the whole team overall. But now it's all over. I'm very happy that we've reached the Final Four and we are challenging the European trophy once again,” Spanoulis told SDNA.
The Olympiakos guard knows that the semi-final against CSKA Moscow in Madrid will not be an easy game. “The semi-final is very tight. You can predict this kind of games,” Spanoulis acknowledged.
Spanoulis recently was criticised for his celebration in the derby against Panathinaikos at OAKA, but he says that the speculation will not have an impact on his performance. “I'm not affected. Whatever happened belongs to the past. I'm a professional basketball player and I'm concentrated on my training and my only focus is to get ready for the next game,” he underlined.
As for the differences between the current Olympiakos team compared to the one in 2012 and 2013 which achieved a European back to back glory, Spanoulis added: “We've got the same character and the same vision. We've got a different coach now. The team is strong and we'll give our best.”
