Olympiakos beat Barcelona 3-1 in the series of the Euroleague play-offs and booked a place for the Final Four. The American guard, Olivier Lafayette is hopeful that him and his teammates can stand on their toes winning the title in Madrid.
“I'm very happy that we have gone through to the Final Four. That's why I joined the club. I wanted to play in the Final Four and win the Euroleague. We faced many difficulties but we managed to go through in the end. But we've still got a lot of work to do. There are two games remaining now to clinch the title. Our job will finish when we win the trophy. CSKA Moscow are a decent team. But we're still in a position to beat them. We're going to Madrid aiming to lift the trophy,” Lafayete told SDNA.
The 31-year-old guard thinks that the strong defending was the key in the series against Barcelona while he paid tribute to Giorgos Printezis for the winner in the fourth game. “Barcelona are a great team. It wasn't easy to beat the three times in four games. But we can beat everyone in Europe as we believe in ourselves. The key in the series was our defence. Then Giorgos Printezis scored a significant three-pointer in the fourth game. He has done it many times in his career. It was a well-executed attack and even though at this moment you don't have enough time to think, we believed in him and it paid off,” Lafayette said.
