CSKA Moscow beat Panathinaikos 3-1 in the series and the ex-Olympiakos forward believes that the victory last night was the best ever over Panathinaikos in his career. “I have celebrated the victory at OAKA two or three times in the past. I think one of them was when I played at Olympiakos. But this was by far the best. I'm very happy with this victory over Panathinaikos,” Hines told SDNA.
The 28-year-old American forward thinks that the key for CSKA Moscow was the strong defending for the entire of the game. “The defence was critical in this fourth game. We played with energy and we knew we had to be aggressive defensively. That made a big difference. We were really focused on our defending and on the rebounds in order to control the game. It was an excellent team effort. I feel very honoured reaching the Final Four. I never thought of playing in four Final Fours on the trot. But nothing matters if we don't manage to win the title at the end,” Hines underlined.
Also the CSKA forward did not forget to pay tribute to his Greek coach Dimitris Itoudis. “He is a great coach. He's got a basketball IQ and he has to get the credit for the top level we're playing at the moment,” Hines added.
When asked about whom he would like to face in the Final Four, Hines was coy. “All the clubs in the Final Four are top quality. So either we face Olympiakos or Barcelona is the same. Now we have to relax and enjoy the Olympiakos – Barcelona tie.”
