Former Olympiacos striker Nelson Valdez commented on the alcohol problems he faced in the past.
Speaking to Spanish newspaper "Marca", he admitted that the manager he worked with at Werder Bremen, Thomas Schaaf, is the one who helped him deal with his addiction. "I owe him my career", the Paraguayan said. "He took me with him at Werder. I had huge problems. I would play football during the day and drink half a bottle of whiskey during the night. It was something so bad. I was close to getting sick".
