The three Greece National Team players were on route to the Budapest Airport by taxi returning to their clubs in Italy when a car hit their vehicle. Tachtsidis and Fetfatzidis were taken to hospital for stitches, while Moras fell unconscious.
Speaking to SDNA the Greek consul in Hungary, Loukas Tsokos said that all three are safe and they are going to return to Italy tomorrow.
“The guys are safe. There is no reason for panic. I visited them in hospital to see them and help them with the translation. They have been speaking to the police. They have been taken into one of the best hospitals in Budapest. Moras and Tachtsidis will be released from hospital today while Fetfatzidis tomorrow. He had some injuries, but it's not anything serious. They told me that they plan to stay in Budapest today and return to Italy tomorrow,” Tsokos told SDNA.
It is believed that the accident happened when the driver of the car which hit the taxi fell asleep. “Possibly the other driver fell asleep, so the car passed into the opposite direction and hit the taxi where the three Greece National Team players were in,” Tsokos added.
