More specifically, the president of Argolida Football Union, Giannis Apostolopoulos, and three members of the current Board of Directors are expected to announce resignation on Friday, July 22, since things have actually changed and the new "strong player" of the Board of Directors is the vice president and member of Nea Dimokratia political party, Vasilis Sideris.
Before the recent General Meeting of the Hellenic Football Federation, there was a secret voting at Argolida Football Union about the two members who would had the right to vote and Vasilis Sideris was elected as one of them, while the other was a person of Giannis Apostolopoulos' trust.
The president of Argolida Region, who is traditionally supporting the administration of the HFF and his son is currently working at the Federation, decided to not participate in the General Meeting for obvious reasons. Still, the other two members of the Football Union voted against the administrative review of Giorgos Girtzikis.
The situation became even more clear during the last Board of Directors' meeting, where it was obvious that Giannis Apostolopoulos is not in control of it any more, with 7-4 members against him and capable of blocking any decisions by him.
The president realized that the only thing he could do was to announce his resignation immediately and the same is expected to be done by the other three members of the Board of Directors, who are still supporting him.
We should mention that all the Football Unions of Peloponnese area were standing by the side of the "system" until now, but Argolida Region's Football Union will become the first one changing sides and joining the "opposing party" of the Hellenic Football Federation's current administration.
