Pereira's celebration in Jara's late goal against AEK was controversial as he run towards the home supporters. The Portuguese manager has been already under criticism after his decision to provoke Panathinaikos supporters some weeks ago before the start of the Athens derby.
However, Pereira defended his goal celebration saying that it was normal after the way this game ended with Olympiakos snatching a late victory which sent them to the semis.
“We showed our quality and team spirit in the second half. We nicked it late at the end and it was very normal to react emotionally during the celebrations after such an intense game. After the goal I felt that I had to celebrate like that. That's my character. I didn't have the intention to provoke. You're wrong if you think so,” Pereira said.
