"The decisions of our government are clear and everybody knows that we are ready to end the current system of corruption which is giving to greek football a bad name. Unfortunately, we are repeatedly watching violent incidents that are not honoring our country and put the health and life of athletes, officials and fans in danger.
During last season, before we come in charge which does not matter, we witnessed a dead person after riots in a football stadium. Furthermore, we should all understand that this situation of injustice, violence and corruption which exists in this sport for many years should be ended and the government will do everything possible towards it.
About last week's incidents, we made clear that if the international associations finally decide to expel the Hellenic Football Federation, we will take further action immediately to clean their name from negativity. However, we ask FIFA and UEFA to support our efforts because they have to understand that the current situation of greek football is extremely dangerous.
Their duty is stop looking the tree and start worrying about the forest, which is the continuous violence in football matches and the complete suspicion of Greek fans about every decision made, because of the current system of injustice and corruption everybody is noticing, but nobody is doing something against it.
The government's decision is to move forward, not make even one step back and fulfill its promises, about the continuance of the competition of Greek Cup, the State of Council will take the final decision about it or not after Hellenic Football Federation's appeal. If they don't want it to be interrupted, we will completely respect their authority and accept the facts.
Financial interests are not important to us if they threaten the social peace and public order, we firstly have to solve the serious problems and then look all the others. Hellenic Football Federation have the ability to correct their mistakes and we expect from them to do so, if they are finally punished from international associations we are ready to react in order to end the corruption in greek football", said the Greek politician on radio.
