Pardo is currently playing at APOEL and speaking to sdna.gr recalled some fantastic experiences from his time at Olympiakos in this big rivalry against Panathinaikos.
“It's the biggest game in Greece and one of the best in Europe. The atmosphere is hostile from both fans and surely it's an unforgettable experience. If you win the fans are the happiest people on earth. If you lose they get depressed. There is a lot of intensity and passion,” Pardo told sdna.gr.
In these derbies the referee is always under huge pressure and there is a lot of talk about the doubtful decisions. However, Pardo believes that the big teams in Greece do not have a right to talk about refereeing decisions. “None from the big teams can talk about the referees. Neither Olympiakos nor Panathinaikos. What Iraklis can say about referees. I mention Iraklis because I played there. Nowhere in Europe the big clubs have the right to complain about referees,” Pardo underlines.
Finally, the Belgian goalkeeper wishes Olympiakos to get the victory over Panathinaikos at Leoforos on Sunday. “I played for Olympiakos, therefore it's normal that I wish for their win. But I hope to watch a good game and the best team to claim the win. Most importantly let's hope there are no riots. In Greece it happens a lot of times, but this needs to change. If they react like that they do not help their team.”
