The Knicks have reached a buyout agreement with Amar’e Stoudemire, and Thanasis Antetokounmpo is ready to take his place.
The older brother of “Greek Freak” Giannis is Knicks first choice for the open spot on the roster after Stoudemire leaving the team.
Thanasis was originally drafted 51st overall by the Knicks in the 2014 NBA Draft. Antetokounmpo was first-time executive Phil Jackson’s second draft selection behind Cleanthony Early. The 22- year old has averaged 13.7 points, 6 rebounds, 1.6 steals, and 1.5 blocks in thirty games with the NBA D-League affiliated Westchester Knicks.
It’s not clear whether New York plans to sign him to a 10-day contract or a longer arrangement.
