Katsikaris spoke to Sport 24 radio where he stated that this move would be the ideal in his career, even though he understands how much difficult it is.
“To coach a team in the NBA is my dream. It's a big challenge. However, I know that it is very difficult for a European coach to move to the NBA, because it's a totally different world. The NBA is a league where the players are the stars. Only Popovic has managed to emerge as a coach. That's how the star system works in America. But if I had the possibility to get into a team, to learn their game, their rules and the way they manage everything in a squad, it's something that really interests me. I would like to do it, if I was given the chance,” Katsikaris said.
Also Katsikaris talked about both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kostas Papanikolaou, the two Greek players who play in the NBA for Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets respectively. “Antetokounmpo has changed a lot. He's got a different role now and he feels much more confident. His only drawback is the long shot, but he works on it. As for Papanikolaou, Rockets made some moves and therefore his playing time has been limited. But their coaches are really pleased with him. Despite he's not playing that much, he works very hard. He has improved in shooting and he is used as a second play-maker in the team. In Houston they respect him so much,” Katsikaris added.
