Lojeski is the second best Olympiakos player in average scoring this season behind Spanoulis. The 29-year-old forward speaks to sdna.gr after the important win against CSKA Moscow and says that the interest the Russian club expressed in him in the past did not play any role on his display.
“When you play against one of the best teams in Europe, this is always a great motivation, but in a personal level I think that it did not make any difference. I was concentrated as always and tried to help my team,” Lojeski said.
The defeat at the hands of Efes Anadolou was a key factor for Olympiakos victory over CSKA. “We were aggressive in our defending and that's because we lost in Istanbul a week ago. This was an alarm bell. We tried to stop Teodosic and De Colo. It wasn't easy as they are decent players, but we found solutions and we showed once again that we are one of the best teams in Europe,” Lojeski told sdna.gr.
Moreover Lojeski tries to stay grounded ahead of the rest of the Euroleague. “We've got high aims this season and the least we have to do is to remain undefeated at home. But we have to move on, we need to claim more victories in order to achieve our target this season.”
As for the next game against Nizhny, Lojeski added: “It will be great if we manage to stay at the top of the group in the first round. But if we want to achieve that we have to get the win away at Nizhny. There aren't any easy games in the Euroleague. But our main target is to finish 1st or 2nd in the group in order to claim the advantage in the quarter-finals.”
