In an interview on Diki of Skai TV, the former Ethnikos chairman Nikos Pirounias revealed that Asteras Tripolis major shareholder Yiannis Kaymenakis was the person who gave orders to cut the ears of a witness over the Noor1 case.
Noor1 is the ship which contained two tons of heroine in a trial which is ongoing.
“It had an allegoric meaning. He meant to have five guys to tell him something. I didn't do anything and I did say nothing to Kotsonis. I was assured within my conversation with Kaymenakis that Kotsonis is innocent. Mr Manetas's ears are fine,” Pirounias said.
Kaymenakis is recorded as saying though: “Manetas (the witness of Noor1) is the whole story. I told you to find five guys to cut his ears. Cut his ears to testify.”
However, Pirounias tells Diki that through Kaymenakis, he wanted to see whether Kotsonis was involved in the case. “Kaymenakis is a friend of mine the last 25 years. He lives in Dubai and I wanted to confirm whether Kotsonis had an involvement in all that. I was assured that Kotsonis was innocent.”
