That was AEK first home defeat against Asteras Tripolis, in a game that the two Venezuelans betrayed the team. Baroja simply failed to block or even clear the shot from Fountas and gave the opportunity to Dimitris Papadopoulos to score for the final 1-0.
But the mistake of Ronald Vargas was worst. Criminal, the way the game progressed, as during the dying moments of the first half he hit Lanthrarote away from where the ball was thus he was sent off and forced AEK to play for an entire half with a player down.
