Dear reader let’s start with an assumption. Take your place in front of the mirror and answer as honestly as you can: is there a better team than Olympiakos in the championship? Now that I think you answered with a natural NO, now answer to second question: If a team was slightly better or equal than/with Olympiakos could they win the championship?
Your second answer, if you’re sane I understand what it could be, it triggers the continuation of the discussion. The answers to these questions seem that goes without saying. Not acquittals for football presented by this year's Panathinaikos. For the new AEK that builds something new maybe. For the new project of PAOK. For the misspellings of a team entering the third year of reconstruction and theoretically would have been ready about to reclaim the title, there is none. Quite simply, because this is the worst year out of the last three, and they don’t have a clue where they stand.
That goes with the sporting part. For which, I made extensive reference in my previous note.
But football in Greece is divided in football within the four lines and soccer outside the four lines.
Panathinaikos FC have two roads to walk. One is to continue to produce shacks and visions, to file lawsuits, make complaints, go into direct conflict with the status quo and its employees. It is a solution of some kind. Others followed that road in the past and ALL of them failed. The previous week’s example is striking. They were yelling about Aretopoulos for a week, he went, the human error that everyone expected happened and returns with three goals and three tones of moaning in the luggage.
Personally, I take Panathinaikos positions lightly. Nor do they come from circles or announcements. Because from the moment you get in the processes of playing in this league, you have accepted your faith. Participation in a championship judged by criminal organizations is complicity.
Asking explanations from the EPO concerning Aretopoulos is like asking for explanations from the slot machine when you lose a dime.
Alafouzos and Savvides have boldly stated that they both considering of leaving from the league as this situation continues. Melissanides strongly agrees with that thought as well. At the meeting they had back in June a lot of suggestions fell on the table, but felt that the time hasn’t arrived yet for the partition of the league. And so they are driven straight to the guillotine one after the other. And the more they scream the more being tortured.
Is this the reason why they lose the championship? Of course it’s not. However, as long as they legalize, EPO and KED and the godfathers of the Greek football with their participation, what exactly do they expect? To make the defendants known to public, and their attorneys to sit and watch? Aretopoulos just a few days ago became international. What did he do in Touba to show that he deserves the badge of an international referee?
I understand that people, who run the teams and try to resist the background, feel like they have a cliff in front and behind a stream.
On one side they can’t stand to be fooled straight in their faces and wait for Justice to cleanse the landscape before the time comes for the EPO elections.
The system, meanwhile, plays with the nervous system of millions of fans and trying to lead them to polarization with each other in order to break the united front against corruption.
Panathinaikos didn’t play against Platanias on Sunday or Panionios. They played against a team fighting for the cause. To break the abscess! On Sunday they play against AEK. And PAOK as AEK are well aware of how the system is working. What would be easier than to request of a referee that both would accept? In all the games between them! Why not go coordinated at war against corruption and throwing shots to nowhere? Didn’t PAOK realize that this penalty Gary Rodriguez awarded would never be given by Aretopoulos even if the opponent was Panthrakikos?
The solution is there and they know it. Participation means complicity. As long as they don’t decide on that, and they have all come straight into the pan, they’ll get fried. Like the firewalkers over the coals. Waiting miraculously not to be burned ...
