Olympiacos had informed Sport FM that it won't be allowed to their journalists to comment the game for the radio. The Radio channel warned UEFA for the problem and sent the reporters at Karaiskakis Stadium. The broadcast though was banned by Olympiacos despite the fact that they claimed that there was a technical problem in OTE TV's line. OTE clarified on the contrary that the line operated regularly.
Olympiacos communication officer Thomas Bichtas approached the reporters durnig the first half and asked them to stop. They did not comply and Olympiacos director of communication K. Karapapas interfered. From that moment the broadcast was cut and it continued via the studio of the radio. UEFA media officer was absent during the whole scene.
The right of the Sport FM listeners, the biggest sports radio in the country, to hear a transmission under the best possible conditions is not left to the goodwill of Olympiacos. It is institutionalized and inalienable. The situation is out of control. The regimented mindset of Olympiacos FC flattens every sense of professionalism and journalistic fairness. At the altar of the rivalry with other factors, but also any "disturbing" voice, the "Reds" do not hesitate to create problems even to reporters who say -and are- and friends of Olympiakos over professionals.
Of course, no authority react to this gloomy situation for the media, which either must be subservient amenable to interventions, orders and non papers either have to hire ... bodyguards to be able to do their job.
